Archival preservation of Nikki Craft’s 2002 web page and protest graphic “Traci Bingham Makes Herself Meat For PeTA,” dated on the page “Since 08.22.02.” The graphic responds directly to PETA’s use of Traci Bingham in a butcher-chart-style image that marks a woman’s body with cuts of meat.
Craft’s counter-image turns PETA’s own visual premise back on the organization. It includes the messages “Have a Heart — PETA — Stop Treating Women Like Meat!” and “Kick the T&A Out Of PeTA!” and argues that PETA’s sexualized treatment of women reproduces the same logic of objectification and commodification that animal-rights advocacy claims to oppose. The page links directly to Craft’s larger project, “PETA: Where Only Women Are Treated Like Meat.”
